He is an active member of:
ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers), Served on GPC-32 which authored the soon to be published – Guideline for High Performance O&M; Voting member of TC 7.1 - Integrated Building Design technical committee and TC 7.9 Building Commissioning technical committee.
ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), Chair of the Boston Section Section.

Allen Consulting Offers Better Lab Design, David Allen and Rick Norman of Norman & Associates presented a half day workshop at the 2011 Labs21 conference, teaching participants tactics for “Designing a Flexible Laboratory Equipment Environment”. Integrated Environments Delivery Targets BAD BUILDINGS
AC continued the never ending struggle against BAD BUILDINGS, at NEBFM in June 2011 with education about Integrated Environments Delivery. Participants learned: Why buildings go bad; ways to rehabilitate bad buildings; ways to prevent bad buildings; how to keep good buildings good, and how to make good buildings better.
Developing Labs of the Future – High Performance Teamwork for High Performance Laboratories (What can those who design, construct and operate product development space learn from new product development best practices?), will be presented at the Labs21 conference in Albuquerque, NM September 2010.
